Blank on first install page - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

initial problem: after uploading joomla files, /installation/index.php shows blank (in firefox; ie , chrome error displaying page). source file has content i'm assuming whatever calls doesn't work / retrieve anything. thank advice can give, if it's interpreting feedback.

- tried doing manual install failed @ sql import (uses sql buddy). again, no error other "either file not read or empty". file edited in notepad++.

there seem @ least 2 separate issues , like, if possible, suggest way forward isp.

the issues seem rest correct configuration or otherwise of hosting server.

the system tmp/ directory not writeable, there potentially missing , critical files installation of joomla: php extensions zip | openssl | iconv | mysqli | suhosin | and apache modules mod_security | mod_evasive | mod_dosevasive | mod_qos | mod_userdir | , unless these adequately , correctly compensated in other areas of server configuration joomla not run on host.

separately, , may or may not cause issues in future, idea have max. upload size: 16m & max. post size: 8m | set same value , larger better (within reason) depending on use putting site in future.

if shared hosting should try host switch fastcgi if @ possible eliminate potential ownership issues might encounter amongst other things.

also installation has not run yet unclear database collation character set set , should utf8-general-ci if not already. joomla 2.5.x ideally suited using mysqli by preference and, although install under mysql , not optimised.

you mention "file edited in notepad++" file , in respect sql files of manual installation , not file(s) being used browser installation? or did create/add configuration.php , or edit other files in package?
