Maintaining Custom Colors from FrameMaker to the PDF

i tried posting question under "color management" forum, got lot of questions asking printer, paper, , other settings i'm using...not i'm looking for...

here original post:

i having problems company's custom logo colors appearing in pdf correctly. created 2 color definitions in framemaker 10 (using colors pantone 485 cvc , pantone 281 cvc). these colors used diagram callouts. instead of printing these colors added, default red , blue colors appear in pdf.

i upgraded distiller x , acrobat professional x, thinking maybe older versions didn't support colors, , still getting same result. framemaker using cmyk model.

i have feeling need adjust settings, don't know whether adjust distiller, acrobat, or framemaker. else have issues when trying use company's colors? ideas on might work? don't think problem is  screen settings because when compare frame file pdf, difference obvious.

thanks in advance,

smitty

what cmyk color space (e.g. swop)?

how creating pdf?

save-as, print-to, or distill .ps

distill has separate issue.

what delivery flow?

do need color-matching @ print shop,

or in pdf?

how logo colors coming in?

if cmyk eps, example, should survive windows gdi experience.

if of custom colors text (not graphics), that's more involved problem.

the fundamental problems you're facing are:

1. frame has no color management; never will.

2. windows had no cmyk years, , has destructive fake cmyk.

there work-arounds, 3rd party in extreme cases.
