Thread: blank screen on boot after installing updates

hi,
installed ubuntu(32-bit 10.04) alongside windows 7 in hp laptop(64-bit).when installed updates available , restarted, blank screen came after chose boot ubuntu.on pressing power button, ubuntu closing animation appeared & shut down.is because of hardware drivers not supporting updates.do have re-install ubuntu..if yes, how remove it?..is deleting ubuntu partion ok..how should know updates can installed..also, there problems in running 32-bit version on 64-bit laptop?
advice

hi.
running 32bit fine.
if want delete ubuntu, boot windows first , restore mbr code. otherwise deleting ubuntu stop being able boot windows. delete ubuntu partitions using windows or live cd.
sounds ubuntu getting stuck or taking long time during boot reason, possibly graphics related. make sure give plenty of time. 1 thing try type 'e' @ grub menu , add nomodeset kernel command line options, next quiet, nosplash. if works , can boot check additional hardware drivers , install recommended ones.
