Thread: Help configuring Xsane in ubuntu

i trying scanner working in ubuntu 11.04. scanner hp officejet pro 8500 wireless a909g. ubuntu, can print. scanning matter. trying scan pdf. have been trying use xsane, when scans here outputs .pdf. imagine piece of paper on scanner. divide paper vertical columns 1/10th of actual width of paper. output 1 3/4 of 1 inch thick vertical column of intended scanned image. not sure causing this. wondering if me trouble shoot problem?

have briefly looked scanner warez linux, , correct there not whole lot of applications scan image.... allow me crop image correct size, save cropped image directly .pdf? think xsane in @ least gimp should able accomplish this?

recommend if there better?
if best scenario, please advise how might best troubleshoot matter scans entire image, not 1/10th vertical strip of image.

thank reading!

how many separate windows open when start xsane, , ones they? there may preview window, if not ctrl+1 show it, , there may able set area scanned. see screenshot.
