Thread: Hostname generates ".in-addr.arpa. not found"

hi
using ubuntu 10.04.
when type

> host myipaddress

get

> host myipaddress.in-addr.arpa. not found: 3(nxdomain)

file /etc/hosts starts with:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 my-host-name

, /etc/hostname reads:
my-host-name

know how solve it?

you can't have reverse dns through hosts file, need dns server that. kind of ip (i.e. private or public) trying reverse dns for?
