Thread: xorg hangs


dear all,

have hp elite 7200 mt business pc (desktop pc) ubuntu 10.10 32bit. tried ubuntu 11.04 same problem. xorg hangs, way hard reboot or ssh , kill xorg.

cpu: intel(r) core(tm) i5-2400 cpu @ 3.10ghz
ram: 4gb

tried latest ubuntu kernel no solution.

display not set, have put

xrandr --newmode "1440x900_60.00" 106.50 1440 1528 1672 1904 900 903 909 934 -hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode vga1 1440x900_60.00
xrandr --output vga1 --mode 1440x900_60.00
in /etc/gdm/init/default

when xorg hangs below error message in xorg.log file.

eq overflowing. server stuck in infinite loop.

idea how solve issue.

did make progress this? sounds system in similar situation 1 reported.
