A few questions before I buy a new iMac/Mac mini and sign up for Creative Cloud.

hello everyone,

 

i looking purchase new apple computer , sign creative cloud within next week , have few questions should answered before proceed.

 

my wife , own business , using cs6 apps create brochures, constant contact mailings, product package inserts, edit product photography print , web use, , short hd how-to videos. not graphics professionals or power users , wont doing complicated.

 

any , answers appreciated.

 

i start hardware questions first:

 

i trying decide between imac , mac mini.

 

the imac 2.7ghz quad-core intel core i5 , comes 4gb of memory expandable 16gb, sure. comes radeon hd 6770m graphics card 512mb of gddr5 memory(not upgradable), , 1tb hdd runs @ 7200rpm. unit meets specs required.

 

the 2.5ghz mac mini comes 4gb of memory expandable 8gb, this. has radeon hd 6630m graphics card 256mb of gddr5 memory(not upgradable), , 500gb hdd runs @ 5400rpm. unit meets spec(i think) except speed of hdd.

 

question: mini run software without of issue considering speed of hdd?

 

question: imac run software better justify price difference?

 

i have 1 mini(purchased 4 months ago, same specs listed above) , purchasing second computer wifes desk. if mini run cs6 fine, great , can save few bucks. if mini not run cs6 well, imac desk doing bulk of work in regard anyway.

 

now couple of software questions.

 

after reading hundreds of reviews , forum posts on last few days have seen many people having or issue. seems me of issues because of upgrades lion mountian lion after installing cs6 first or trying open cs3,4,5 files in cs6.

i not computer professional know enough maintain systems , keep them running smoothly.

 

we not have adobe software installed on mini , not opening files previous versions of adobe product in new cs6 software. these clean installs on pristine systems running updated mountian lion os's on both machines , creating new files scratch.

 

question: should expecting issues ones have read in forums , blogs or these normal things happen when upgrading new software multiple hardware configurations?

 

my feeling not having of problem due clean installs , no files previous versions.

 

next up, creative cloud(cc) faq states can install on 2 machines can't open stuff @ same time.

 

question: mean can't using cs6 apps @ same time or not using same app @ same time?

 

example: ps , ps on both machines @ same time = no, ps on 1 , dreamweaver on other @ same time=yes?

 

the cc faq page says adobe add lightroom 4 later in 2012 while main cc page lists available now.

 

question: true?

 

my mini registered me, name, itunes account, apple id etc.

 

question: need initial set-up of new machine information ensure cs6 suite works on both machines? computers need registered(as far apple configuration concerned) same person them work on 1 cc account or can install cs6 on 2 machines regardless of how set-up?

 

this may seem silly question want avoid problems before happen.

 

well, of questions @ moment. made far in looooong post, thank time. appreciate expertise , knowledge , hope can me make decision.

i'll try , answer questions best can.

 

qn 1 mac.

ans:- understand both units run adobe cs6.

          1 depends on wand cs6. if looking high end demand , performance, go imac

          specs imac right. if buy imac straight apple there higher specs.

          can get:-

                              3.4 ghz i7 processor rather i5

                               2gb video card opposed 1gb video card.

                               of course such model cost more.

          in end needs compared money spend. decision cam make.

 

q2:- higher cost imac justify copst.

ans:- again depends on demands intend make on hardware , software.

          note have business , if businees expects high demand , high speedy performance suspect imac more able provide needs.

          again know answer that.

 

q3:- questions cs6 reliability

ans:- have been adobe way on 10 years.

         speaking, myself, reliable software on market.

          true if down form, other , thinking apple discussions forum, find numerous instances of problems.

          again opinion, although these problems real individuals:-

          first not clear why have problem e.g. have done or not done.

          second, in minority of total users using hardware / software.

          problem aware of cs6 acrobat x. understand has been sorted adobe, cost me work have removed system , reverted acrobat 9

          saying there 2 comapnies rely 100% on: adobe , apple.

         if happy opinion not worry adobe cs6

 

qn 4:- cs6 0n 2 machines.

ans:- yes not able run same program similtaneosly.

           believe, if important run same program together, can acquire further licience adobe that.

           need contact adobe that.

 

qn 5:- lightroom 4

ans:- lightroom available part of creative cloud.

 

qn 6:- set individual machines

ans:- not believe do. once have set creative cloud account go apps site , download apps each machine.

          each machine downloads apps , machine , apps registered adobe.

 

         here may want know:-

          because unhappy loosing acrobat data acrobat x ended deleting acrobat x

          far creative cloud concered acrobat x still on machine.

          not problem me because happy acrobat 9, fullfils needs , has not crashed , lost me bookmarks.

          here point:-

          adobe, when there problem acrobat x requested no-one deletes application.

         though not know believe registration of apps have creative cloud registered creative cloud in database. therefore delete app, still registered creative cloud , not able download further copy though app no longer on your    machine.

          therefore maybe not idea delete app when no longer have use it. if want suspect have contact adobe support

 

personal comment:-

          true many unfortunately have had sorts of problems, including me acrobat x.

          said, creative cloud in view has been major advance in how adobe delivers software. have no regrets signing creative cloud , expect remain it.
