ATI Catalyst 12.8 and Photoshop

i've been enjoying flawless performance catalyst 12.6 driver set radeon hd 5670 on windows 7 x64, need test new driver releases own products, i'm download catalyst 12.8, released on august 15th, , see how works photoshop cs6 et. al.

i'll report when i've got drivers in , have done initial tests. 

 

i invite , encourage post experiences catalyst 12.8 here well.

some findings:

 

1.  encountered error microsoft installer crashed during update - hasn't happened before catalyst release.  however, upon closing installer catalyst install manager retried installation of component , succeeded.

 

2.  did before/after benchmarks, , after restart display performance better (e.g., 1% or 2%).

 

3.  photoshop cs6 subjectively seems come little faster.  timed stopwatch , cold start photoshop comes point ui displayed iin 3.4 seconds.  few tenths faster before (3.6 seconds).  not huge difference.

 

4.  checked performance settings, , everything's enabled (advanced mode, opencl, etc.).

 

5.  did raw conversions, photo manipulation, liquify, lighting effects.  worked flawlessly , quickly.

 

6.  did 3d stuff, including opening existing designs have , trying new stuff.  unfortunately, 1 of modestly complex meshes think there may new slowness i'm seeing manifesting few seconds lag whenever switch different elements in 3d panel , before preview , other panels update.  seems work once there, , i've been able move things around @ same speed before - frame rate decent, , possibly little better before.  trouble is, never objectlvely characterized time between switching layers before design, i'm not sure whether it's acting differently before.  it's noticed it, , may mean wasn't there before.  it's on hairy edge of distractingly slow.  rendering seems work fine, before, no difference in speed (and none expected, rendering cpu activity).

 

7.  on attempt map image "hat" preset mesh, got preview of result, when tried rotate current view photoshop crashed error:

this may catalyst 12.8 driver isn't 12.6, have been able want photoshop 3d before without crash this, , (i think) without delays.

 

i'll continue use 12.8 while, , i'll follow here more info learn it, i'd if have catalyst 12.6 , no specific problems solve, might want stay version.
