Thread: 10.04 or 11.04, old Dell inspiron 2650

picked old dell inspiron 2650 real cheap. put max memory can add (256mb, giving total of 512mb). ubuntu runs off livecd fine, if install it, acts sort of screwy when boots (seems take long time ubuntu logo). when gets logon screen, touchpad , keyboard not work. tried usb mouse same result. don't understand how simple keyboard , touchpad don't work, assume else going on causes problem. in searching net haven't found describes problem. installed windows test, , keyboard , touchpad work fine there. so, both work in windows, in ubuntu when on livecd, not ubuntu installation. i'm stumped.

out there have ideas?

it has old nvidia graphic card, explain screwy behaviour. need install proprietary nvidia driver work properly. nouveau open drivers work newer cards not 1 old. have dell inspiron 8500 , and have same problems until installed nvidia driver (nouveau 3d doesn't work on card)

go 10.04 because think there still problems legacy nvidia drivers in 11.04 (nvidia-96 likely). hear update because not sure whether install xubuntu 11.04 or 10.10 on dell inspiron 8500 ( have installed ubuntu 10.10 before kind of sluggish , think xubuntu perform better on weak machine 512 mb of ram. when installed 10.10 there no support nvidia-96 driver had downgrade xorg 10.04 version. support came few months after have done that)

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
