Thread: Help with mounting a (damaged?) partition

i have ntfs partition use solely personal files need access in both ubuntu , windows.

last week, got trojan in windows wiped out master boot record couldn't grub, less boot os. used ubuntu livecd restore grub, , both os's boot fine. problem is, can't access ntfs partition in either windows or ubuntu. both see partition, won't let me open them. when try mount in gparted, says "you must specify file system type". in file system column, displays ntfs.

in advance.

go windows , run:

code:
chkdsk /f x:
(x being drive letter)

, let check filesystem. if it's damaged should fix it. there way in ubuntu, since it's ntfs under windows.
