Thread: Laptop won't boot after install

i've been running ubuntu on acer 5100 laptop year , half. latest version had 10.10 when disk crashed , burned , had replaced. external hard drive internal 1 died long ago , i'm lazy replace it.

things fine until crash.

bought new hard drive today (same brand , model 1 system installed on before), downloaded 10.10 , installation goes fine. then, in end, told 'you need reboot in order use new system'. yes , system ejects cd-rom , starts shutdown process. gets doing cd-rom (/sr0) , gets io error. of course because thing ejected! loooong list of io errors (all same) on device sr0 , have manually reboot system power button.

system starts come up, see bios hit external drive, , nothing. sits there blinking cursor @ top left of screen , nothing.

now, i've looked @ few things:

1: i've made sure external drive first boot device.

2. i've made sure disk , not damaged.

3. i've made sure iso downloaded has same hash 1 got

i've tried install on drive , same thing happens! know 10.10 can run on system has in past no problems @ all.

can tell me might going on?

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
