Thread: Lost root access to my Ubuntu Box
1. trying give proper permissions new wordpress installtion.
gave command
add user "jupitor" group "www-data" advised in somewhere.code:usermod -g www-data jupitor
executed without warning , seems ok.
(the sudoer account on machine "jupitor")
3. logged off , log in again. whenever try execute sudo system complians "jupitor not in sudoers file. incident reported"
4. root account disabled since did sudo command "jupitor" account.
5. lost administrative access box.
6. how can recover root access?
highly appreciated since i'm in deep trouble.

well assuming have physical access box.
can boot single user mode root , correct mistakes. alternatively , can boot recovery mode off livecd.
can boot single user mode doing following.
hit esc computer booting grub menu. highlight entry wish boot single user press e.
have option edit boot parameters.
go kernel line , remove quiet splash , append word single. press ctrl+x boot.
logged in root, in terminal.
