used gui system settings in ubuntu activate second monitor "separate."

both on now, no system control visible @ anymore.

ever encounter , know how fix it?

in advance

btw: can't access now. wishing i'd @ least set keyboard shortcut terminal, didn't think first so....

now?

some additional notes:

it's looking me ubuntu not have support @ mac pros dual screens.

should have mentioned above before activated second monitor had downloaded update recommended ubuntu in driver updates support 2d 3d graphics, tried booting cd , setting monitors "separate" (presumably original driver, , made both screens go totally wonky. no desktop there either. background color, messed on secondary, , nothing gray on primary.

after solid week of screwing around ubuntu on system, i'm point of resigning myself probable fact ubuntu should not run on machine hardware setup. i'm sure work out multitude of problems must solved make work, i'm thinking there must simpler solution out there.

maybe not, , it's not mind tackling difficult puzzles this, kind of annoying after years of hearing how "simple" or linux release is, discovering every time (so far, since 2006), there system i'm on either makes massively difficult or impossible working properly.

sorry. didn't mean rant.

haven't quite given yet, darned close , ready try yet release. guess have bad habit of picking oddball systems lot of stuff won't play nice with.

edit: don't take offense @ this, please. it's been looooong week, , after many, many failed attempts ubuntu correctly installed, did, less thirty minutes later, happened. needless say, bit twisted in brain. still open suggestions though, because son (the little thirteen year old &^&%&!) managed ubuntu running after few failed attempts on imac, , see on computer far. want see working on mine too. i'm becoming more skeptical whether it's workable , worth it.
