Thread: random reboots

for last week or desktop computer has been randomly rebooting during night. have couple cron jobs, 1 of runs , sometime after turns off. running ubuntu 10.10 on dell dimension 5100 stays on time production machine/home server. when reboots, never loads , screen messed (sometimes looks old crt did when turned computer off). other times scrolling list of errors (can't remember right now, edit if see them again). can tell happening sometime between 7 , 8 am. cron jobs shouldn't doing this, should they? other ideas why happening or how can log of happening , when?

many possible reasons but:

- check first logs (often helpfull)
- check fans works, system not dusty, box not under/behind tons of things (because of fresh air)
- check cron jobs script able deal errors
