Thread: Synchronize users and passwords
greetings,
i'm not sure if i'm posting in right place, feel free move if not.
have xen server pool multiple ubuntu 10.04 server gusts running on it.
on 1 guest have nx server clients login, nx uses ssh authentication layer native users of unix system used. guest runs samba server witch has own users database here first issue pops (#1) described below.
other guest worker nodes run matlab, mathematica, etc...
users use these nodes via x forwarding, nx desktop run ssh -x [node ip] matlab example.
work node must have calling user , password in system (for simplicity want have same users , password on guests) nodes must mirror nx guests users.
can implemented mentioned above(i've tried , works fine), im foreseeing big problem if user wishes change password,(#1) namely user uses passwd change unix password nx login reflect samba database won't, if uses smbpasswd change samba password can rigged unix password changed well, still leaves worker nodes old password.
can give me advice on how make user , password of nx guest global. (i don't want unique login, fine if user has retype password when connecting worker node long same one)
want if use changes unix password on nx guest, samba , worker nodes should reflect change.
have looked @ kerberos unfortunately have private sub-network, set of word wide ips no dns.
id appreciate advice on how manage these services users database of nx guest don't have keep of them manually synchronized.
