What is the best way to setup drives on desktop if will work on laptop sometimes?
hi everyone...
i've read lots on forums here setting multiple disk drives not how people set them when have more 1 workstation. actually, maybe should making 2 different threads seem interconnected
.
i build pc replace laptop main workstation sill use laptop (ie, when working outside of town). i'm looking advice on 2 things:
1. configuring desktop optimal performance creative content creation (photoshop, premiere, cubase, etc); ie. put adobe cache disk? previews? exports? media cache same adobe cache disk setup in preferences?
2. easiest way take work me when need work off laptop
note: i've been using external seagate goflex 1.5tb usb3.0 drive projects , related media files longest time because laptop has 320gb drive. still thinks makes sense use drive desktop since performance acceptable , whenever need work laptop can take drive me , work anywhere.
below how stuff setup.. have money invest in optimizing setup if has valid suggestions.
| main workstation (desktop) | occasional workstation (laptop) |
|---|---|
| c: 128gb ssd (os & programs) | c: 320gb 7200rpm -- (215gb partition a: os & programs) |
| d: n/a | d: 320gb 7200rpm -- (83gb partition b: adobe cache disk) |
| e: 1.5tb usb 3.0 portable drive (projects + media) | e: 1.5tb usb 3.0 portable drive (projects + media) |
first off, carrying drive best practice taking projects , media you? maybe there's way havent thought of?
second, benefit adding hdd desktop , if so, what? how split up? guess putting 1 letter d: , making match b: partition of laptop. right adobe cache disk.
please provide me expertise , recommendations!
i'm sure more expertise chime in soon, first observation partitions in laptop. slow down. should never use partitions in editing machine.
also, should have bare minimum of 2 internal hard drives (preferably 3 in workstation).
