Joomla upload problems. - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi,
i uploaded joomla 1.5.22 site hosting, change configuration.php file usual unable upload package file or install directory, "install url", cant make new article, menu or module, check file permitions , ok 755 dirs , 644 files still same.
another strange thing when give search engine friendly urls front page opens others messy (no design or images).

hope have idea going on.

you've cited bunch of issues, , aren't related each other.

firstly, need update latest version of joomla 1.5, @ least (1.5.26).

secondly, need @ upgrading 2.5 possible, 1.5 end of life, , not receiving more security updates.

now, onto issues, i'm guessing have migrated joomla 1.5 site new hosting environment.

moving files , changing configuration file isn't best way this, creates messy results (as seeing). in configuration.php file, need change relating database, log folder , tmp folder location (and possibly ftp information if using ftp upload , edit files inside of joomla).

so double check of information. if information correct, should able install extensions uploading them, , make changes articles, menus, modules, etc.

if can't create new articles, db user not have right privileges, , you'll need log in host's cpanel , make sure db user can anything/everything needs on database.

search engine friendly url's depend on rewrite rule inside .htaccess file. using ftp, see if can find file. if don't find it, find file named "htaccess.txt", change name of file .htaccess, refresh home page, , try links see if work properly.
