Thread: Boot Errors

i have old compaq pesario 2538cl laptop that's been running slow lately stock drive decided upgrade bigger one(i had ubuntu 9.10). after installed new hard drive put in ubuntu 11.4 live cd , installed hard drive. when told reboot machine did never linux boot, drive not found , send me boot loader screen(which loop error message , boot screen if chose anything). decided install windows xp , ubuntu 11.4 overwritting seemed work, whenever machine boots gives me following errors, "error out of disk, error no suitable mode found, error no video mode activated" can me this? ubuntu still boot fine errors , i'm wondering are.

how old computer , how large old drive , new drive.

older computers had 137gb boot limit , had smaller drives, did not matter. if install larger hard drive boot files have in partition inside 137gb limit. can use separate /boot or make / (root) 20gb , keep inside 137gb , use rest of drive /home.

video have. finds old driver old systems. standard install has 30 old video drivers cover systems.
