Thread: Error: You need to load the kernel first

i installed ubuntu 11.04 onto partition , dual-booting windows 7. got install ubuntu extracts language packs , things , has "slideshow" shows new features, got past , restarted computer. when start grub it goes command prompt type thing (sorry, i'm used windows) , says "error: need load kernel first". i've looked around on google , seen quite few articles 9.10 not 11.04. please help.
