Thread: G4 Kernel Upgrade (will not boot new kernel)

alright,
i'm trying g4 off of os x primary os. have working debian install on 40 gb ide drive (kernel custom 2.6.26). trying update kernel 2.6.39.1, cannot new kernel boot.

i'm sure should post elsewhere, i've had luck here fellow ppc mac users before.

anyway, when point yaboot new kernel, prints out 2 lines (the usual "elf32...." blah blah blah), flashes white screen looks open firmware. thing screen says is:

code:
done found display : /pci@f000000/nvda,parent@10/nvda,display-a@0, opening...
and that's it. system hangs there...

i'm not sure make of it. feel nvidiafb should take over, , i've got compiled in kernel module (just working 2.6.26 kernel on machine), nothing happens. i've never seen white open firmware screen outside of..well, open firmware.

can post files necessary...until i'll keep fiddling kernel configuration, rebuilding , trying out.

chroot sytem , check symbolic links in /boot
, check them against yaboot.conf. don't forget issue ybin -v whenever change yaboot.conf file. make sure open firmware path device correct well.
