Thread: Two questions? Hardware req'm't to run Unity? How to consolidate menus?

this laptop i'm running ubuntu on. single operating system....

intel core 2 duo t7500 processor (santa rosa, 2.2ghz, 4mb l2 cache, 800mhz fsb)
ubuntu 11.04
15.4” wsxga display
256mb nvidia quadro fx 570m workstation gpu
2gb ddr2 667mhz ram (1 x 2gb configuration)
100gb 7200rpm seagate 2.5” hdd
blu-ray , dvd+/-rw optical drive
wifi, ethernet, modem, , bluetooth connectivity

immediately following installation following message...
"you not have hardware requirement run unity"

found following via google...

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...on/+bug/704883

instructed, following message, should choose "classic" @ next login, @ login there not appear option this. can explain bit of me?

also... how can eliminate of wasted space @ top of screen? did right click , monkeyed 'flexible space" option, tried grabbing , dragging bars , float right original. it's bit frustrating. of information displayed @ top of ubuntu's default homepage incorporated in 2 lines. instead spread out in 5 , eats 1/6 of screen's real estate.

i'm bit uncomfortable messing drags/drops, shifts, moving margins, etc, when comes manipulating menu bars (coming windows experience). i'm never entirely sure of i'm doing , it's easy mess things up. there simple 'one click' options consolidating menu space? perhaps different "skin" choose option somewhere?

your hardware more capable of running unity, need install drivers fro graphics card. should have had little icon pop @ top of screen telling drivers available it. go ahead , install them.

i'm not quite sure understand menu issue, can provide screenshot of problem is?
