Thread: Why can't i update through update manager?

my update manager keep prompted me message

not initialize package information

unresolvable problem occured while initializing package
information.

please report bug against 'update manager'
package , include following error message;

'e:encountered section no package: header,
eroblem mergelist/var/lib/apt/list/
us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dist_natty_main_binar y-
amd64_packages,e:the package lists or status file not
parsde or opened.'


tried update using terminal
still same.

can't enter ubuntu software center...
btw first time using ubuntu.

please me!!!!

sudo mv /var/lib/apt/lists /var/lib/apt/lists_old sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get autoclean sudo apt-get update

open update manager again , post outcome.
