Where to go from 1.5... - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i've been running couple sites based off 1.5 (got 1 runs 1.6), , shocked come here , find on 3.0?!?! yeah, don't come guess, rofl..

i came here because @ time, 1.5 sites didn't work 1.6 (module incompatitabilites, broken themes, etc) , looking see if issues had been resolved. guess i'm refocusing question be:

i run 1.5.. should attempt upgrade 2.5 or 3.0? 3.0 doesn't it's beta, leads me believe it's current iteration. stability, large/big odds of finding updated modules run, continue running factors. said, don't want come here after update 2.5 find out on version 4.x, , easiest upgrade path have been 3.x. upgrade path concern, though read, though don't know how true is, jupgrade update 1.5 @ least 2.5 (wiki/article title said 3, txt in document referred 2.5). have experience this? seemed best place post - other double posting upgrding in both 2.5 , 3.0 forums.. (ackward, lol) need joomla universal, non-version area post general questions in here suppose :) advice, comments welcome. in advance!

don't 3.0, it's experienced users , though it's past beta...not 100% sure it. used in development fun poke around, love jquery , bootstrap , awesome. works way i've wanted years! don't think it's recommended production unless experienced , yadda yadda said.

stick 2.5, , yes upgrade 2.5 opinion. wait until 3.5 comes out should ready production/live sites. can use extension jupgrade should migrate joomla 1.5 version believe 2.5? or solid tutorial, won't post steps here.

make sure themes, extensions, , etc. compilable , latest , greatest if necessary or consult 3rd party providers upgrading.

always backup site before doing this, if fail want restore , not come on here saying "i broke it, hard work gone...help me" lol. check out akeeba backup if don't have it, backup file , db, whole site....

ps. backup backup backup...lol. seriously, see tons of posts no 1 backs , trashes site , hard work....helped few fix it, easier restore.

good luck!
