Layout adjustment, overridden master frames, etc
hi folks,
using indesign cs 5.5
i'm facing quite number of problems layout adjustment, combined cross-reference bugs i've discussed in thread: (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1055578?tstart=0)
the situation i'm trying resize entire book's worth of documents (ca. 30 documents) new page size. thought needed happen was:
- make sure objects snapped guides
- turn enable layout adjustment on
- in document setup, change page size
- done
my documents consist of small set of header frames , 1 large text frame per page. when make snapping adjustments frames in master page, header stuff adjusts expected. master text frame adjusts expected. on actual document pages, text frames aren't adjusted @ all. seems that, pasting text master text frames on document pages, overrode them, meaning detached master page. correct?
fine, plan b cut , paste of threaded text old (incorrectly sized) frames new (correctly sized) master text frame. works fine, except breaks of cross-references in document, , other cross-references in other documents in book (as discussed in linked thread above.)
i either need find solution allow me to:
- resize of these text frames automatically, across 700+ pages (the optimal solution)
or
- paste cross-references without breaking them, 1 document @ time (slower, possible)
as things stand now, i'm looking @ 700+ pages of either manual resizing or manual cross-reference repairing. there has better way.
thanks.
layout adjustment can flakey. works best when main text block snapped 4 margin guides, , essential enabled before making adjustment layout (which sounds did).
in situation think try saving copies of files backup, export text in each 1 indesign tagged text. create new documents correct page size , margins , place tagged text, resave thes new files old names in hopes cross-refs preserved (no promises, sorry). odds lot better refes inside document between documents, fragile under best of circumstances.
