Thread: can't see windows shared folder in ubuntu "network"
i've seen lot of posts how see ubuntu box in windows, can't find 1 opposite - seeing windows share in ubuntu. 1 of posts found on web showed sharing folder in windows , going places/network/windows-network , see windows box/folder etc..
tried no luck. against better judgement installed samba, changed config file update workgroup name (in windows entered "workgroup" shows "workgroup". tried "workgroup" in smb.conf didn't work. tried "workgroup" didn't work.
2 pc's follows:
- desktop computer running windows xp pro sp3, connects wirelessly via router
- laptop running ubuntu 10.10, connects wirelessly via router
in places, network shows ubuntu box , hp wireless printer , windows network. when click on windows network empty.
thought done without samba. knowing nothing samba outside of supposed allow, went against instincts , installed it's not helping (probably me not knowing how set up).
so.......can tell me how share folder "x" on windows xp machine such ubuntu laptop can see it?
in advance!
