Thread: Zotac ZBOX Mini-PC choice - advice requested
hi,
looking small "nettop"-style pc act both occasional "spare" desktop pc , low-wattage home server, , particularly interested in following zotac zbox models:
zotac zbox id41 - product information
zotac zbox ad02 - product information
zbox id41 dual-core atom d525 ion2, , zbox ad02 dual-core amd e-350 apu fusion system (zacate). both of these, have add ram, hard drive , install own os. both models of interest me include both esata , usb 3.0 ports.
on paper, ad02 has better specification (ram 8gb, cpu supports amd-v virtualisation [so better virtualbox performance? useful me], reviews performance of zacate better atom, etc), understand it, atom + ion2 better supported linux (at least currently). both systems here in uk same price (£180 £190) various suppliers.
main question is: of these 2 better choice run under linux, in particular ubuntu? understand amd system newer has less support @ moment, ubuntu 11.04 install without major issues? stick lts releases, happy install 11.04, , 11.10 later, before moving on 12.04 lts next year.
also, believe nvidia has better hardware acceleration under linux, amd catch eventually? amd/ati graphics support adobe flash hardware acceleration in future?
many advice , help.![]()
looking same years later find post. did zbox worked you?
planing on replacing mini dell sx280 running ubuntu 12.04 lts zbox soon. use machine vpn'ing , file server.
