if have backup (which hope do) can akeeba:
1)use ftp client (filezilla?) connect , transfer backup over
-usually ftp.<yourdomain>.<extension>, username , password
-if backup still on server (which think is) use ftp move root of site or better yet new sub directory in root, they're in /administrator/components/com_akeeba/backups/ think...?
2)get kickstart same site got akeeba from
-transfer of files on same directory backup resides (in root if moved there or sub directory in root)
3)access kickstart using browser , have extract , setup site
4)fill in details
5)get site back
filezilla, akeeba/kickstart, , googling give lot more detailed instructions.
if stuck can try , fill in more details.
i've helped couple people reverse engineer 2.5.8 upgrade 3.0 2.5.8 it's easier use backup. sucks going through stuff you'll learn , better in future
.
i recommend using new database , installing backup sub directory. safe , not "clobber" can remove unwanted after...installing in sub directory doesn't mean have access site via sub directory in browser, it's easy way organize things if have multiple sites.
oh , think akeeba pro has backup restore right admin in joomla...but i'm not 100% sure. might worth money though don't have go through again....it has backups cloud awesome (like amazon or other places).
