Thread: Installing FileOpenInstaller for adobe reader
hi all,
installed ubuntu natty 64bit-version. now, need install fileopeninstaller since many pdfs receive decrypted plugin. .tar.gz-file available here:
http://plugin.fileopen.com/all.aspx
unfortunately, plugin not work latest adobe reader available, although under system requirements adobe reader or adobe acrobat 7.0 or later required. having extracted .tar.gz-file becomes obvious adobe reader 7 , adobe reader 8 being supported plugin. (nevertheless, tried install plugin in combination acroread 9.4.2 without success. after installing acroread did
sudo ./commandline_installer.sh
process stopped since wrong version of adobe reader has been detected.
imagine 2 different kind of solutions:
1. installing older version of acroread, not find on web. please tell me, can find older version of acroread.
2. installing adobe reader 8.1.7 (deb)
http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/
unfortunately, there 32bit-versions available linux users.
there threads concerning problem not figure out how run 32bit version on
64bit system:
http://www.ubuntugeek.com/install-ac...10-karmic.html
tried
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture adobereader_deu-8.1.7-1.i386.deb
gives
dpkg: warning: overriding problem because --force enabled:

preparing replace adobereader-deu:i386 8.1.7 (using adobereader_deu-8.1.7-1.i386.deb) ...
