Thread: Ubuntu 11.04 install problem

i have hard disk divided 3 primary partitions. first has win98se, second has ubuntu 10.10, , third attempting ubuntu 11.04 since, wireless network, 10.10 11.04 upgrade failed due dropped connection.

re installed 10.10 , seems work fine. (i have had ubuntu month.)

downloaded , created cd 11.04 , ran install 11.04 on third partition. seemed go in ok won't run. bit of window here , bit of window in place on single monitor screen. told me did not meet hardware requirements unity , go classic @ log in prompt. there mild problem in when boot 11.04 don't log in prompt. should reinsall on have or wipe partition , start install on again? power off way shut down trying open tool bar item fails in opened screen closses if not sooner.

grub screen on boot show 3 os selection. can run 10.10 after attempted install of 11.04.

best approach?

continuation of original post. did reinstall of 11.04 on first 11.04 installation. thing changed require password access. original installation paaword not required access 11.04.

still no good. boots looks classic screen. (very similar 10.10 installation.) tried fix date , time. date/time screen came nothing it. in course of playing around on date/time screen, trash screen came unasked. lay on date/time screen , not moved or shut down. way able shut down power off.

btw, grub works fine. on boot shows 3 os on hard disk , can reach of them.

ideas or solutions please.
