Thread: 11.04 no longer connects with Droid Hotspot


sony vaio x upgraded 11.04 2.6.38-8-generic i686 improved features introduced serious wifi problem: while other wifi works well, connecting via droid hotpsot fails consistently despite reboots of , renaming of ssid. laptop running 10.04 still works fine droid hotspot. 1 hint: upon upgrading, there warning laptop hardware did not support unity , classic gnome display.
droid hotspot shows in list of ssids attempts connect fail, when made totally unsecured.

atheros ar9285 wireless network adapter
qualcom sony gobi 2000 wireless modem
ifconfig shows no packets wlan0 or connectivity.
iwconfig shows correct ssid , other info.
dmsg shows "wlan0: direct probe f8:7b:7a:2b:a7:d1 timed out"
restarting network has no effect there message
"running /etc/init.d/networking restart dprecated because may not enable again interaces"

don't find same problem in forum perhaps configuration error on part. please comment if have clues.

the first place start ubuntu wireless troubleshooting guide. in order device work need physical connectivity (plugged in way and/or turned on via machine's bios), driver communicate between device , operating system, , proper configuration of device typically via dhcp. please follow guide , indicate @ point having difficulty.

sounds me there's problem driver although can't see (from described) indicates corrupted driver there appears configuration driver. can see 1 you're using with:
