hey please need know how install gps receiver please i'm not expert if can provide me clear details of how it, apreciated

the simplest way started install foxtrotgps if have current release of ubuntu, (code named 'natty narwhal').
foxtrot gps called 'tangogps' in earlier versions.

go outside or somewhere gps receiver have sky view , wait few minutes gps plugged in , foxtrot gps running.

in unity in natty narwhal can find foxtrot gps instantly pressing ubuntu key on keyboard or ubuntu button in top right-hand corner of display , typing first 2 or 3 letters of program want, 'fox'... , icons programs have installed start 'fox' should displayed, click on 'foxtrot gps'.
in older versions of ubuntu, go 'applications', 'accessories', 'tangogps'.

full-screen , click on (i information button) , shortly if have sky view start seeing valid gps data starting appear in info sidebar , foxtrot gps should zoom in on location.

if click on arrow buttons @ top of sidebar again , switch 'tracks', can enable , disable track logging or 'split' (stop log , start new one).
track logs in case don't know plain text files lists of coordinates taken every second or less useful recording journeys in , keep , use later processing.

can re-load old track logs in foxtrot gps 'load' button see went, track logs can processed make appear in other programs google earth , quantum gis, (professional map making software can installed in ubuntu).

@ first, foxtrot gps doesn't come lot of map data guess keep down size of download, can see position in world osm type map initially.
switch side bar 'configuration' clicking arrows @ top , should see 'map types' button.
can choose 'osm', maps-for-free, 'opencyclemap', google maps or 'googe sat'.
'google sat' personally, they're good. use 'google sat' maps or whatever kind want specific area need connect internet , pan around @ various zoom level using keyboard or mouse. make sure 'auto download map tiles' enabled, foxtrot gps save map tiles hard drive. map tiles stored in maps folder. try spend time zooming , panning around build collection , able use them later when you're away internet connection.
once have map tiles collected, it's idea include maps folder in future backups save having spend time repeating process.

haven't tried specific make , model of usb gps if it's same other usb gps receivers should plug in , work.

if have problems getting gps working foxtrot @ first can install command - line gps tools gpsd , gpsd-clients, when type 'xgps' in terminal see command-line satellite viewer , can test if can 'see' satellites or not. if can wait longer or problems foxtrot gps, if cannot 'see' satellites in xgps wait longer, go somewhere better sky view or think wrong gps connection, (plug loose, extension cable long, unusual make , model of gps reciever requiring special steps working in ubuntu (rare happen), etc.).
