Why only 10-bit depth dng files from 16-bit Nikon D90 nef files?

when convert 16-bit .nef files nikon d90 dng 10-bits depth.

since camera should producing 12-bit depth seems losing information in conversion, , don't want that.

i have installed 7.1 dng converter, , suppose used when download camera memory card through bridge 5.1 , click dng conversion.

same thing if open .nef in photoshop 5.1 , kicks cameraraw converter 6.7.0.339.

why this?

can't .dng have more 10-bit depth?

i don't know lot bit depth, know d 90 takes 10 bit nef files. lightroom , camera raw open files in 16-bit workspace. of newer cameras taking 12 bit images, knowledge no camera taking true 16-bit image.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
