Captivate 6 for Mac too buggy for use (screen corruption, mouse/audio instability)
corrupt screens. main problem corrupt screens (visually jumbled, elements of previous screens). corrupt screens appear in both preview in web browser , in published project. i've observed problem when capture website interactions (using either safari or firefox). might isolated web browsers , not other applications, i'm not sure. project slides fine. problem occurs during transition html/swf-based preview or published file.
unfortunately problem appears intermittent , unpredictable: 1 preview (in web browser) might show 1 corrupt screen; subsequent preview (in web browser) might show 4 corrupt screens (after making no changes captivate file). appears related various timeline factors (mouse position, mouse duration). able temporarily eliminate problem in 1 project file making sure mouse elements had 2/10th second gap before end of slide , no longer 2 seconds long. in later test, controlling these variables did not work.
there 2 other related bugs occur in preview or publish:
mouse. if move mouse object original position on timeline, say, end of slide position before, , move end of slide, result faulty mouse behavior. moves on first part of arc, either skips destination or doesn't complete arc @ when slide advances next slide.
audio. audio single slide not play. intermittent , unpredictable, screen corruption bug. problem goes away after moving mouse on timeline slightly, isn't reliable.
in case, moving mouse away end of slide not desirable workaround, when work. delay between "click" , slide transition looks sloppy, , contrary expected mouse behavior (to trigger slide transition).
i have been working 2 people @ adobe tech support, have not found solution or isolated problem. i've documented several keystroke bugs on forum. so, after 3 weeks of aggravation, have concluded captivate 6 mac has serious bugs , not reliable. forced go captivate 5.5.
some progress adobe tech support:
my slides set "low (8 bit)". changing property "high (24-bit)", in conjunction selecting "force republish slides" checkbox during publish, appears resolve screen corruption issue. (some screens fixed "force republish" others required 24-bit change.) not 100% sure process fix of screen problems, since haven't tested thoroughly, appears first step.
the mouse , audio issues remain unresolved. have filed bug report mouse issue because reproducible.
