Fast way to change fill colour of many objects

i navigating document model through objects , manually adjusting fill colour of desired objects.

 

for example, each layer, iterate through groupitems, compoundpathitems, pathitems, in groupitems navigate groupitems, compoundpathitems, pathitems, etc.

 

in order change colours of objects, ends taking on minute accomplish.  in illustrator ui, can select complicated group item , change it's colour fast.  in sdk, groupitem not have fill colour parameter, have iterate through sub-items change colour.

 

is there better way?  seems slow.

there method aipathstylesuite::adjustobjectaicolors() takes callback updating colour. can tell visit fill colours only. don't know happens if call on group though; find children fill colours automatically? if not, might able sue aiartsetsuite art of particular type layer , run adjustobjectaicolors() on each?

 

in genearl, if ai can it, can. though it's not obvious how
