how to turn 2 shapes into 1?

hey there ...                                                                              level:  newbie'ish  os:  win7-64bit  ps: cs6

 

 

i take 2 rounded rectangle shapes have rotated 45 degrees , make them 1 shape paths of each rectangle become one.

 

i've looked paths, shapes , other things in manual i've been unable narrow down right keywords find i'm looking for.

 

i have used pen tool i'm not satisfied outcome of rounded corners. know can use combine shapes not when first need rotate shape.

 

pretty sure i've done before life of me cannot recall how nor can find in notes.

 

here's pic of want change 1 shape 1 continuous path.

target 2 shape layers, press cmd/ctrl+e merge 1 shape layer. sl targeted, shape/path tool active, select merge shape components in options bar.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
