trying 2 audio interfaces , working in ubuntu.

---presonus firestudio project--- firewire
---m-audio mobile pre usb---usb

1. i tried using ffado firestudio project, when tried query:

:~$ ffado-test listdevices

it returned with

no message buffer overruns

any on getting firestudio , running great! such nice product hate have resort windows use it.

2. winehq , team air, got ableton live 8.0.1 , running fine. have installed windows drivers wine.

when open ableton, , navigate to

>options>preferences>audio>driver type>

i given 3 choices

1.no audio
2.mme/directx
3.asio

of course selected asio
under 'audio device' given 3 choices

1. no device
2. m-audio usb asio
3. asio presonus firestudio

when select option 2 or 3 though, error

"failed load audio device ...."

wtf mate? ableton recognises them, cant use them?!

3. i have had issues ableton freezing computer. right when starts start clicking away, if wait 5 seconds before start works fine, not issue heads others.

4. also tips linux software play with, or goodies appreciated. ardour midi? vst's?

5. is ubuntu studio worth install? have of our data backed on local server, have nothing lose , can re-partition @ leisure. after 11.04 , unity left me screaming , pulling hair out put 10.10 back. but, worthwhile put studio on machine?




note: yes, purchased ableton live guitar center, cd's destroyed in recent move colorado. please don't lecture me pirating software. spent grand on software ableton, more convenient torrent it. plus more familiar version.
