Thread: accidently removed gnome and no available internet connection
hello all, quite new linux, have been using last few months. switched on debian squeeze.
today removing applications/libraries in synaptics , accidentally removed gnome-core.
on wpa2 hidden wireless network, , getting , running through terminal in recovery mode has been killer, i've searched half dozen threads , nothing seeming work.
wired pretty far away , not want keep moving desktop on house.
when in terminal type apt-get install gnome-core tells me need download 11 new packages, of course fails because theres no connection.
there way use command compile list packages need reinstall gnome-core, manually retrieve them ftp.us.debian.org, save them eternal media , install them dpkg -i *.deb?
in advance!
i bit unclear distro using suggest files need live cd.
go system, administration, software sources , place tick box next entry under "installable cd-rom/dvd". avoid confusion can temporarily untick boxes "downloadable internet".
