Thread: Athlon II X4 - any good for virtual machines?
kind folks of ubuntu forums, have question - hope - isn't dumb....
years ago, used know processors best what, etc., after p4 came out, kind of lost interest & have bumbled along 2.x or 3.x single core p4s... know ubuntu works these, use extensively.
however; i'm buy machine uses newfangled amd chip (specifically: amd athlon ii x4 (640) 3.0ghz) - because want run virtual machines on computer, mix of windoze (spit) , ubuntu (and mint, maybe), , possibly other stuff. i'd able run 2-3 "decent spec" vms (i.e. whole core itself, example, 2gb ram, @ least 80gb disk space - fine usual uses). machine has 8gb ram , 1tb hdd, imho should plenty.
pitfalls need watch for? machine bargain bucket stuff (less £300), can afford up-spec bit if necessary...
cheers!
