Thread: Cannot delete planeshift because apparently it doesn't exist (but of course does)

so tried install planeshift in ubuntu without looking @ instructions , both unusable cannot deleted. i've had mental kernal panic being linux nub , , think made worse. anyway far can tell it's messed , here did. please me delete can install right , not have 500 mb wasted.

step one: first installation.

after torrenting game web site installed following commands

cd ~/desktop
chmod +x planeshift-v0.5.7-x64.run
./planeshift-v0.5.7-x64.run

during installer found install location not valid , chose following directory created

/home/steven/games/planeshift

i made desktop icon functional following

chmod +x planeshift.desktop

after installer clicked game , updated. shut down , desktop icon never worked again. uninstaller appeared work fine that's did

step two: second install.

did pretty except did "sudo" prefix. game refused load , got error when trying launch it

there error launching application
details: failed execute child process "/home/steven/games/planeshift/planeshift/pslaunch" (permission denied)

well... figured needed run root in terminal typed following

cd ~/desktop
./planeshift.desktop

this got both planeshift icon , uninstaller

./planeshift.desktop: line 1: [desktop: command not found
./planeshift.desktop: line 9: application: command not found
./planeshift.desktop: line 9: game: command not found

step three: mindless command mashing messed more things up

@ point i've gotten upset. start looking commands. started doing tell me not in ubuntu tutorials below , make account root using following commands (i didn't read message below). thing couldn't onto desktop using "cd ~/desktop" when root figured out needed "cd /home/steven/desktop" instead. here typed

sudo -i -u <username>

preceded try make executable belong nobody doing this

chmod 666 planeshift.desktop

which did installer ty oo no avail. want delete can reinstall or @ least rid of it!
