Thread: How To Change Default File Permissions


hey everyone, dad has been using ubuntu few weeks , likes it, he's having issues regarding read-only files. he's doctor , has download word files edit, download read-only file. while isn't particularly difficult do, finds doing tiresome , because isn't proficient pc user, may have difficulty when return school after summer. hoping there's way change default settings files downloaded writeable.

additionally, has number cd-rws both retrieves files , stores them to, when trying access these cds told read-only. right clicking on cd , trying change access permissions doesn't work (says permissions can't changed because disc read-only). appreciated!
