Thread: trying to change my etc/enviroment script back to default path


from begining

looking @ clutter view on google ,and looked nice went installing ppas nautilus http://www.webupd8.org/2010/09/insta...tary-with.html. after doing restarted session.once logged in followed these further instructions clutter view going (because wasn't going) typed gksu gedit /etc/environment in terminal following instructions http://gbutola.wordpress.com/2010/10...us-elementary/and enviroment script came in text editor path="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games" went paste export clutter_vblank=none @ end deleted usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games" , replaced export clutter_vblank=none after saving logged out..(big mistake) no system wont log in iv restarted system countless times im ever @ login screen , after logg in screen blacks out if tryna log in logs out .is there way change in terminal or have hdd run on 2nd computer has ubuntu 10.10 , change enviroment script back?

running ubuntu 10.10 on both harddrives 1 use 1 cant log into.i have tried changing file after connecting hdd secondary desktop says not have permission. know root password dont know if there way around it?

you need log in root recovery console.

nano /etc/environment
then put right.

ctrl-o enter save

ctrl-x exit

type
code:
exit
, see if can resume normal boot.
