After recording, waveform is shifted upward
i using audition record phonograph using honestech usb interface connected between. that's important detail because recordings usb microphone, instance, normal. issue recording turntable waveform (upper part of screenshot) getting translated/shifted upward few db, seems. not occurring me remedy is. make adjustments turntable, making sure on level surface, play tracking weight, etc., see if fix this. in advance possible guidance.
looks have dc offset happening. that's when dc current gets mixed in ac audio signal , causes 0 point on waveform offset upwards fraction of volt. makes sense it's happening on turntable since there dc voltages floating around in there.
audition has tool corrects dc offset. on cs6 reason it's tucked away on effects/amplitude , compression/normalise menu. put tick in dc offset correction box (and untick normalise box if don't want change levels) , should fix you.
