Deactivation problem - I think

i have had photoshop cs4 running on computer since 2008. computer has crashed badly won't start @ , it's old it's not worth have fixed. can't deactive cs4 on computer. have downloaded cs4 "my orders" page on account , installed on new computer, won't accept serial number , won't activate cs4on new computer - because hasn't been deactivated on old computer. have been on line in adobe service chat more hour , been through 2 departments, ended saying didn't support old program versions , linked me forum. though explained problem 5 times, entered personal details 3 times , serial number cs4 4 times, never felt sure understood problem was. can here help?

i think emits pretty specific messages number of activations exceeded if fails activate reason, i'm guessing that's not issue.  adobe absolutely has support ongoing activation of older versions you've purchased.  have called "perpetual license" after all.
