Thread: Can't find Network Manager icon...

i installed new wireless router (netgear wndr3700v2) in home. got wife's windows 7 desktop (cabled) , vista laptop (wireless) both working fine.

however, can't find network manager icon on ubuntu-only laptop can try on our new network. (gnashing of teeth , mocking me using linux.)

help?

just plug wire (rj45) if have option. dhcp default enabled if router configured you'll network access. open synaptic , if have network-manager package installed, if not: install it. otherwise try reinstall sure dependencies satisfied.
can verify if have cable network access typing on terminal:
ifconfig
you'll see network devices detected on laptop.

, let me add have more specific problem: ubuntu version, hardware description, desktop enviroment, etc. can find typing on terminal commands lsusb and/or lspci
