Thread: CPU governor / speedstep problem or bug
hi there,
switched ubuntu natty kubuntu natty , must after switched kde4.0 gnome2/ubuntu because of severe issues, improved , 4.6.
there is, however, big problem me in current release:
since cpu governor profile ui options removed 4.5 4.6 (how stupid that? going apple way now, novell?), left no choice either trust "something" inside kde select right governor, or use cpufreq on command line.
first option not work me @ all. kde loads "performance" governor profile , sets minimum clock 2 ghz (which max core2duo t7300) results in having fan on full speed time - pretty annoying.
no harm done, thought, , wrote script:
which loaded after login , every energy profile switch.code:sudo /usr/bin/cpufreq-set -c 0 -g ondemand -d 800; sudo /usr/bin/cpufreq-set -c 1 -g ondemand -d 800
sadly, not work. kde randomly switches governor "performance".
don't know when it, since don't know means how track program accessing governor setting.
rid of this, have opened bug report on launchpad explained don't know packet causing behaviour.
did not have problem under ubuntu natty, guess entirely kde related bug.
appreciate solve this.
thanks,
acidicx
