Thread: How deinstall command line programs

hi

want deinstall standard netcat programm.

tried far

sudo aptitude remove netcat
used graphical package manager locate , remove
delete netcat, nc directories /bin , usr/bin

still can call netcat. nc seems removed. general approach when uninstalling command line programs ?!

same other package, "sudo apt-get remove packagename".

if command failed, it's because netcat isn't included in package called "netcat".

quick apt-cache search shows package "netcat" being transitional dummy package, , actual program provided in "netcat-openbsd" or "netcat-traditional". (netcat-openbsd 1 that's installed default)
