Thread: Installing Ubuntu from scratch

i downloaded unity yesterday, created cd it, inserted cd, , rebooted ubuntu (10.10) in hopes install 11.04. nothing happened , ubuntu booted up, skipping cd, once logged in, prompted me upgrade (because detected cd).

upgraded.

i'm not happy installation of unity. things not working , i'd install scratch.

have 2 hard drives; 1 has docs, pics, videos, etc; other has ubuntu. (i redirected shortcuts of folders can access them main menu.) assumption clean installation won't affect files because they're on different drive ubuntu.

how do clean installation? putting in cd , rebooting doesn't seem anything.

actually, putting cd in , rebooting have do. however, there things check.
did run run md5sum on download?
did burn iso @ lowest speed possible? (that burn iso, not merely copy files cd.)
did change boot order in bios have cd drive boot before hard drive?
