Thread: Issue when booting?

i'm new ubuntu - have never seen in action before. installed wubi version last night cannot seem work (i have installed alongside windows 7).

when choose boot ubuntu instead of windows, acts wants load screen pops up. @ top says gnu grub version 1.99~rc1-13ubuntu3, 3 selectable options of "ubuntu, linux 2.6.38-8-generic" or "ubuntu, linux 2.6.38-8-generic (recovery mode)" or "windows 7 (loader) (on / dev/sda2)".

have tried selecting options ubuntu load - 1st 2 options bring bios? maybe command line...(no don't know talking here ..)

can further when i'm in recovery mode, asking me login, stuck when says:

run command administrator (user "root"), use "sudo <command>".
see "man sudo_root" details.

if information helps, running brand new (so nothing on it) laptop.
dell inspiron 15r, model n5110
intel core i5-2410m cpu @ 2.30 ghz
6gb ram
500gb harddrive

can guys please me running correctly when can begin figuring out doing? thank you!

that's sort of funny (not) since computer apparently "certified ubuntu". http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/...32:201101-7008

certified version 10.10 (not 11.04 have) might idea. has graphics. if have ability specify should use onboard (intel) should that.

(so don't install graphics drivers separate gpu if have it).
if find brightness controls don't work once sorted out, check ppa: https://launchpad.net/~kamalmostafa/...l-mjgbacklight
