Thread: Linux / *buntu on Samsung RV515

a $350 usd computer being sold @ best buy, samsung rv515 features new amd zacate e-350 apu. combines 2 processing cores , gpu on same die.

working on computer friend, , wanted share experience of dual booting windows 7 home premium , kubuntu.

word of warning; windows 7 has no drivers computer. need install wired or wireless network card driver manually, , proceede 90 windows updates before have working hardware if choose fresh install.

thankfully, linux distro of choice, kubuntu, proved opposite.

essential hardware detected , completely. graphics worked out of box full hardware acceleration including blur shaders. sound works fine (internal , hdmi). wireless card atheros works out of box no additional work. function keys work fine, etc, including software screen brightness. webcam works fine, aware not have hardware indicator when turned on.

strangely, there precisely 1 bit of hardware not detected... touchpad. seems work fine generic mouse, , had not noticed wasn't techincally detected until went touchpad configuration see if enable two-finger scrolling.

let me know if have questions or ideas. come , update post if have further info on touch pad.

works fine friend, though, not going try it. if own laptop , have success it, please let me know.
