Thread: Running scripts from USB key on 10.10
greetings,
have 2 computers running ubuntu 10.10. 1 has dsl connection , other straddled dial connection. update dial-up computer using synaptic's "generate package download script" feature , has worked until upgraded 10.10 on dsl computer.
understand issue has permissions, , allowing execution of files on removable media, , have tried many different things, no joy.
here have found. if copy script desktop on dsl computer, can make executable , run, either using properties-permissions gui, or using command line. however, neither of these things work file on usb stick. command line doesn't report error , appears work, , check mark on gui appear instantly disappear. if check permissions on usb stick itself, says executable, clicking "apply these settings enclosed files" nothing change permissions of script file.
i'm sure there simple way make work, worked on previous versions of ubuntu, cannot seem find it. appreciated.
found link. answered questions. many thanks.
